Farmers waiting for the next Rs 2,000 under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme now have a date. The scheme’s official X handle, @pmkisanofficial, posted on Friday, 23 October, that the 24th instalment will be released on 30 October 2026 in a post it has since pinned to the top of its profile. Rural Voice and The Daily Jagran also reported the announcement.

The announcement ends weeks of speculation. As recently as Friday morning, Business Today had reported that no date had been confirmed as of a 22 October update. The money is expected to reach eligible farmers ahead of Diwali.

What has been announced

The post asked farmers to mark their calendars and said the 24th instalment would be released on 30 October. Neither the post nor the reports said where the release event will be held, and no farmer count or total outlay for this instalment had been published at the time of writing.

For context, the 23rd instalment was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Tarakeswar in West Bengal on 20 June 2026. More than Rs 18,880 crore was transferred to over 9.44 crore farmers, Angel One reported. Since the scheme began in 2019, more than Rs 4.46 lakh crore has been disbursed.

How the scheme works

PM-Kisan is fully funded by the Centre. Eligible landholding farmer families receive Rs 6,000 a year in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000, paid by direct benefit transfer into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The Union Budget for 2026-27 set aside Rs 60,000 crore for the scheme.

Payments may be held back, pending physical verification, in some cases. These include farmers who acquired land after 1 February 2019 and families where more than one member, such as husband and wife, is drawing the benefit.

Three checks before 30 October

  • eKYC: mandatory for all registered beneficiaries. It can be done by OTP on the PM-Kisan portal or app, biometrically at a Common Service Centre, or by face authentication on the PM-Kisan mobile app.
  • Aadhaar-bank seeding: the receiving bank account must be linked with Aadhaar.
  • Land records: land details must be seeded on the PM-Kisan portal.

How to check your status

  • Go to the official website, pmkisan.gov.in, and open the Farmers Corner section.
  • Select “Know Your Status”.
  • Enter your registration number and the captcha, then verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile.
  • The page shows eligibility, eKYC, Aadhaar-bank seeding, land-seeding and payment details.

For face-based eKYC, install the PM-Kisan app and the Aadhaar Face RD app, log in with your registered mobile number, open the beneficiary status page and, if eKYC shows “No”, tap eKYC, enter your Aadhaar number, give consent and complete the face scan.

Why it matters

Farmers whose eKYC, bank seeding or land records are incomplete risk missing the 30 October payment. With less than a week to go, officials and reports urge beneficiaries to check their status now and use the scheme’s grievance facility if any entry shows a problem.
