Drishyam 3 crosses ₹100 crore in two days, tripling Drishyam 2’s opening
Ajay Devgn's thriller collected ₹115.50 crore net in India over its first two days and ₹177.10 crore gross worldwide, according to Sacnilk.
Drishyam 3: The Conclusion has crossed ₹100 crore net at the Indian box office in just two days, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The Ajay Devgn thriller opened on Friday, 2 October, the Gandhi Jayanti holiday.
The numbers
- Day 1 (Friday): ₹62 crore net in India, at 60.1% occupancy.
- Day 2 (Saturday): ₹53.50 crore net, a drop of about 13.7%, at 48.1% occupancy.
- Two-day India total: ₹115.50 crore net, or ₹138.60 crore gross.
- Overseas: ₹38.50 crore gross.
- Worldwide: ₹177.10 crore gross.
The film is directed by Abhishek Pathak and stars Devgn, Tabu, Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj.
How it compares
Drishyam 2 (2022) collected ₹15.38 crore on its first day and ₹21.59 crore on its second, for a two-day total of ₹36.97 crore, The Week noted. That film went on to earn more than ₹342 crore worldwide. The third instalment has made more than three times as much in the same period.
A small fall on the second day is normal after a holiday opening, so the Sunday figure will be the clearer test of how well word of mouth is holding up.
The rest of the weekend
Elsewhere, Sundeep Kishan’s Sigma, directed by Jason Sanjay, made ₹1.50 crore on Saturday for a total of ₹3.85 crore. Verity, starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, reached ₹3.50 crore. Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger, with Tom Cruise, has made ₹1.10 crore in India so far, and Prem Keetanu, with Veer Pahariya and Aparshakti Khurana, ₹1.23 crore.
What happens next
