Captain Shreyas Iyer hits a 42-ball maiden T20I hundred as India crush West Indies in Lucknow
Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 102 off 42 balls took India past West Indies' 171 with 32 balls to spare, extending India's T20I winning streak to 10.

India captain Shreyas Iyer smashed his first T20I century, an unbeaten 102 off 42 balls, as India beat West Indies by eight wickets in the first match of the five-match T20I series in Lucknow on Tuesday, 6 October.
The scores
West Indies 171 (Sherfane Rutherford 56; Naman Dhir 3-31, Axar Patel 2-26) lost to India 172 for 2 in 14.4 overs (Shreyas Iyer 102*, Ishan Kishan 37*) by eight wickets.
How it happened
India’s three spinners took eight wickets between them. Axar Patel bowled a double-wicket maiden to end the powerplay, Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets, and debutant Naman Dhir finished with 3 for 31 from his four overs, each time striking straight after being hit for six.
Half-centuries from Shai Hope and Rutherford lifted West Indies to 171. West Indies removed both India openers, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, early, but Iyer then took the chase away from them, finishing it with 32 balls to spare.
Why it matters
The win is India’s 10th T20I in a row. The series is being broadcast on the Star Sports Network and streamed on JioHotstar.
