Casio unveils analog G-Shock 2500 series inspired by the 1983 original, with magnetic ‘Shock Release’ hands
Casio's new GMC-2500 and GAC-2500 bring the shape of the first G-Shock to an analog dial, adding a multi-function date window and a magnetic hand mount. Sales begin in Japan and Asia in November.

Casio has announced the G-Shock 2500 series, a new line of analog watches that borrow their shape from the very first G-Shock, the DW-5000C of 1983. The GMC-2500 has been among the trending searches in India since the announcement on October 21.
Nine models across three lines
The range comprises nine watches. The GAC-2500 comes in four resin versions, the GMC-2500 in three versions with a stainless steel-covered bezel, and the GMC-2500D in two versions on a stainless steel bracelet.
Casio says the design carries the iconic outline of the original into an analog form with softer, more rounded edges. The case is shaped so that light and shadow shift across it as the watch moves, while the dial and indexes are kept simple for easy reading.
What is new
- Multi-Mission Date: a three-segment window at 3 o’clock shows the date, elapsed stopwatch minutes, settings and other information depending on the mode in use.
- Automatic calendar: once the year, month and day are set, the date takes care of itself, with no month-end corrections.
- Sleep function: the small seconds hand at 9 o’clock can be stopped and restarted to save power and extend battery life.
- Shock Release Hand: a magnetic holding structure allows the minute hand to return to its correct position after a hard knock, a feature earlier seen on the GA-V01.
Price and availability
The watches are due on sale in Japan and Asia in November 2026. Casio has not announced Indian pricing or a release date for other regions. Fan site G-Central lists the GAC-2500 at around US$145 and the GMC-2500 at around US$280.
