Malayalam time-loop comedy Dhoomakethu is one of the most searched titles in India today as it arrives on Netflix, heading a busy weekend of South Indian releases across streaming platforms.

Dhoomakethu (Malayalam), Netflix

Directed by Sudhi Maddison, the film stars Sajin Gopu as Kuttan, a 36-year-old bachelor whose wedding day goes horribly wrong when masked intruders kill him and carry off his bride, Sharmila, played by Nikhila Vimal. Each time he dies, Kuttan wakes up on the same wedding morning and, with a friend’s help, tries to change the outcome, stumbling onto a conspiracy linked to a rare comet. Shine Tom Chacko and Ganapathi S Poduval are also in the cast. The film opened in cinemas on September 25 to largely positive reviews and starts streaming on October 23.

Dorothy (Tamil), Netflix

Karthik Subbaraj’s period drama is set in the 1980s and follows childhood friends Karthi and Subbu, who work as henchmen for Subbu’s father. After Subbu’s sister-in-law, Dorothy, dies in mysterious circumstances, Subbu reveals their gender identity and is thrown out of the family, and Karthi is ordered to kill them. Keerthy Suresh features alongside Sananth and Rishikanth.

The Paradise (Telugu), Netflix

Nani leads Srikanth Odela’s action drama as Jadal, who fights for the dignity of the marginalised Savaari community in 1980s Secunderabad and takes on the powerful Malik family. Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni and Raghav Juyal co-star. It began streaming on October 22.

Varam (Telugu), JioHotstar

Aditya Mandala’s supernatural comedy-thriller centres on Raju, a slum dweller who can read tomorrow’s news today and tries to use it to escape poverty, only for fate to keep pushing back. Vishwadev Rachakonda and Shivathmika Rajasekhar star. Streaming from October 22.

Sattamum Needhiyum Season 2 (Tamil), ZEE5

Saravanan returns as advocate Sundaramoorthy in Balaji Selvaraj’s courtroom drama, taking on a case that tests his principles and exposes corruption within institutions. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar joins the cast.
