India’s Got Latent episode 8: MC Stan joins panel as Modi mimic roasts Kunal Kamra on video call

Samay Raina dropped the eighth episode of India's Got Latent Season 2 late on Sunday with MC Stan, Tanmay Bhat, Arpit Bala and Madhur Virli on the panel. A PM Modi impersonator turning the tables on Kunal Kamra went viral.

Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent is back in the conversation after the eighth episode of its second season, featuring rapper MC Stan on the judging panel and a surprise video call with comedian Kunal Kamra, went online late on Sunday, 25 October.

Raina put out the episode on his YouTube channel with little advance noise. India TV reported that he teased it on Instagram Stories by noting it was his birthday and calling the episode a gift for viewers. Clips from the show began circulating widely on social media soon after, pushing searches for MC Stan and for “Kunal Kamra Latent” up the trending charts on Monday.

A star panel

Alongside MC Stan, the Bigg Boss 16 winner, the panel included comedian Tanmay Bhat, singer Arpit Bala and comedian Madhur Virli. As usual for the format, contestants predict their own score before performing, and the judges then rate the act.

MC Stan drew particular attention from viewers. One fan quoted by The Daily Jagran described him as unintentionally very funny, and several posts praised his unpredictable reactions through the episode.

The Kunal Kamra moment

The segment that travelled furthest online involved a contestant who performs as an impersonator of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Hindustan Herald identified him as Rahil, who goes by the stage character “Odi Ji”.

Midway through the episode, Raina placed a live video call to Kamra. Rather than Kamra having the last word, the impersonator stayed in character and turned the exchange into a roast of the comedian, at one point asking him whether he had picked up his information from “WhatsApp University”, according to the Free Press Journal. Raina joked that the cyber cell would now come after both of them, as the panel broke into laughter.

Hindustan Herald reported that the act earned an average score of 10 from the panel, matching the contestant’s own prediction, and that he won the episode.

The exchange carried extra edge because Kamra is a frequent critic of the Prime Minister and the BJP-led government. The Free Press Journal noted that a zero FIR was registered against him last year by MIDC police over allegations of defaming Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Mixed response from fans

Not everyone was won over. Reactions on X were divided, with some viewers saying the show has lost some of its earlier spark and that even a high-profile panel could not lift the episode as a whole. Many of the same users, however, singled out the Modi impersonation and MC Stan’s presence as the highlights.

The second season of India’s Got Latent is being released on YouTube, with reports also mentioning Netflix as a platform for the season. Clips from episode 8, especially the Kamra call, were still being widely shared on Monday.
