All of Us Are Dead Season 2: Netflix event confirms Cheong-san is alive, but no release date yet

At Netflix Korea's 10th anniversary event in Seoul on 24 October, the returning cast confirmed Lee Cheong-san survived, but Netflix revealed no teaser or release date for Season 2.

Fans hoping for a release date for All of Us Are Dead Season 2 came away with something different on Saturday: confirmation that one of the show’s most debated characters is alive. Netflix still has not announced when the Korean zombie drama will return, and no teaser was shown.

The update came at Netflix Korea’s 10th anniversary festival in Seoul on Saturday, 24 October, where the series featured in the closing What Next? segment of the streamer’s livestreamed showcase. It was the first public presentation of the new season since Netflix confirmed the renewal in June 2022.

Cheong-san is back

The four returning leads, Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun and Lomon, appeared on stage together. The biggest moment belonged to Yoon, whose character Lee Cheong-san appeared to die at the end of the first season. Addressing the audience, he said that Cheong-san is “still alive”, settling a question fans have argued over for more than four years.

Park, who plays Nam On-jo, said she had worried he would not come back, and hinted that her character will face a more evolved zombie threat while still trying to protect her friends. Cho confirmed that Choi Nam-ra remains a half-zombie, while Lomon said Lee Su-hyeok returns as an adult.

The new cast members and director Lee Jae-kyu did not take part in the stage segment. The season was billed only as coming soon on Netflix.

What is confirmed so far

Season 2 moves the story beyond Hyosan High School to Seoul, where the surviving friends are now college students and young adults facing a larger outbreak in the capital. Lee Jae-kyu returns as director and Chun Sung-il as writer.

Joining the cast are Lee Min-jae, Kim Si-eun, Yoon Ga-yi and Roh Jae-won. The Week reports that Roh plays Han Doo-seok, a team leader at Korea’s National Intelligence Service.

Filming began in July 2025 and wrapped in February 2026, after roughly seven months of shooting. The long schedule has been linked to the show’s scale and heavy use of visual effects, and the season is now in post-production.

When could it release?

Netflix has given no date or window. Entertainment outlets, including What’s on Netflix and The Week, expect a release in early 2027, most likely January or February, partly because the show was missing from Netflix Korea’s 2026 line-up. Reports of a December 2026 premiere remain unsupported. Fans should treat any specific date circulating online as speculation until Netflix confirms it.

The first season became one of Netflix’s biggest non-English hits. According to figures cited by The Week, it topped the charts in more than 60 countries and held the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s global rankings for three straight weeks.

With the cast now back in the spotlight, a teaser or date announcement could be the next step, but for now, the wait continues.
