Samsung’s One UI 9, its Android 17-based software update, is now reaching more Galaxy phones in India. Galaxy S24 owners will have to wait a little longer. “Galaxy S24 One UI 9” has been one of the top tech searches in India over the past day.

Which phones are getting it in India

  • Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra: rolling out since 29 September in India, Europe, Canada and other markets, according to SammyGuru’s rollout tracker.
  • Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra: reached India and Europe from 6 October, according to Sammy Fans, with users in India and the UK reporting the update.
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7: rolling out in India, Europe and other regions since 6 October.

What about the Galaxy S24?

The stable update for the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra started in South Korea on 6 October. Sammy Fans says users outside Korea should expect it from around 12 October, though Samsung hasn’t confirmed an India date. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 and Galaxy A57 are also getting it in Korea first.

The S24 series launched with Android 14 and comes with Samsung’s promise of seven years of Android upgrades, so One UI 9 is its third major update. Several mid-range phones, including the Galaxy A54, A16 5G, M34 and A07 5G, are on a public One UI 9 beta in India.

What’s new in One UI 9

  • Redesigned Quick Panel: the brightness, volume and media sliders are bigger and can be resized separately.
  • Now Nudge: on-screen suggestions based on what you are doing.
  • Scam protection: call features that can help flag possible AI-generated voices.
  • My FanCam: automatically reframes a video to keep the subject in the centre.
  • Call Brief and custom Now Brief cards, a redesigned health dashboard and a new screen to track app permissions.

How to update

Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Samsung releases updates in stages, so it may not appear straight away. Use Wi-Fi and keep the phone well charged. Phones updating directly from One UI 8.5 should expect a download of over 4GB.
