JEE Main 2027 registration opens: apply by 22 November for January session
NTA opened JEE Main 2027 session 1 registration on 24 October at jeemain.nta.nic.in; the last date is 22 November and the January exam has been rescheduled to 20-28 January 2027.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened registration for the January session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2027, the gateway to NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutes and the first step towards JEE Advanced for IIT admissions.
The notification and the online application window went live on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, according to Careers360 and Testbook. Candidates have until Sunday, 22 November 2026, to submit their forms and pay the fee.
Key dates for session 1
As per the schedule reported by Careers360, a late-fee window will run from 23 to 26 November, with an additional Rs 500, followed by a correction window from 27 to 29 November. The city intimation slip is expected on 31 December 2026 and admit cards on 13 January 2027.
According to Careers360, the session 1 exam will now be held on 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2027 in computer-based mode. These dates differ from the tentative schedule circulated earlier this month, which listed 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30 January, with 31 January as a buffer day. Careers360 reported that NTA has revised the session 1 timetable. Candidates should confirm the final dates in the official information bulletin.
For session 2, registration is scheduled from 5 January to 3 February 2027, and the exam is slated for early April, between 2 and 7 April according to Careers360. Testbook described the dates for both sessions as tentative.
Fee and eligibility
The reported application fee for one paper with an exam centre in India is Rs 1,000 for general male candidates and Rs 800 for female candidates. Male candidates in the Gen-EWS and OBC-NCL categories pay Rs 900, and SC, ST, PwD and third-gender candidates pay Rs 500. Fees are higher for centres outside India. Careers360 noted that these figures match the previous cycle, so applicants should check the information bulletin before paying.
There is no age limit for JEE Main. Students who passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026, or who will appear in 2027, can apply. For admission to NITs, IIITs and other participating institutes, candidates generally need at least 75 per cent in Class 12, or 65 per cent for SC and ST candidates, or must be in the top 20 percentile of their board.
How to apply
Applicants must register on jeemain.nta.nic.in, fill in personal and academic details, upload a photograph and signature, choose up to four preferred exam cities and pay the fee online. Careers360 reported that registration can also be done through the government’s Meri Pehchaan single sign-on. The paper will be offered in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Urdu.
Details entered in the form should match official documents such as the Class 10 marksheet and Aadhaar card. Students are advised to apply well before the deadline and to rely only on the official NTA website for updates, since several unofficial dates had circulated before the notification.
