PM Kisan 24th instalment: no official date yet; how to check status and eKYC

The Centre has not yet announced when the 24th PM-KISAN instalment of ₹2,000 will be paid. Here is what is known and how farmers can check their status.

Farmers waiting for the next ₹2,000 payment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme still have no official date for the 24th instalment. As of the morning of Wednesday, 21 October, the scheme’s portal and the Press Information Bureau had announced no release date.

The PM-KISAN homepage at pmkisan.gov.in still lists the 23rd instalment as the most recent release. It was paid on 20 June 2026 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an event in Tarakeswar, in West Bengal’s Hooghly district.

What is known so far

PM-KISAN gives eligible landholding farmer families ₹6,000 a year, paid in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 straight into their bank accounts. Because payments come roughly every four months, several media reports have said the next one could arrive in October. Business Standard reported on 13 October that the release would fall in October if the usual cycle held, but stressed that the Centre had not confirmed a date. Readers should treat any specific date seen online as unconfirmed until the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare announces it.

Before the 23rd instalment, a PIB release said more than ₹18,880 crore would go to over 9.44 crore farmers, among them more than 2.18 crore women. A later government statement put the final figures at more than 9.49 crore beneficiaries and over ₹18,984 crore.

On 31 July, the Union Cabinet cleared an outlay of ₹3.15 lakh crore to keep the scheme going for five more years, from 2026-27 through 2030-31. According to the government, more than ₹4.47 lakh crore has been paid out across 23 instalments since the scheme began in February 2019. It says roughly one in four beneficiaries is a woman.

How to check status and complete eKYC

The portal says eKYC is compulsory for every registered farmer, and that unverified accounts risk missing payments. Besides the OTP route, biometric eKYC can now be done through Common Service Centre operators, the PM-KISAN mobile app and logins of officials authorised by state governments.

To check whether you are on the list and whether payments have gone through:

  • Open pmkisan.gov.in and go to the “Know Your Status” option in the Farmers Corner section.
  • Type in your registration number, then the captcha shown on screen.
  • Ask for an OTP on your registered mobile number and enter it to see your registration and payment details.

The status page will also flag missing eKYC, unseeded Aadhaar-bank links or unverified land records. Fixing these early should prevent a delay once the instalment is released.

Why some payments are on hold

A notice on the portal says the department has spotted some cases that may come under the scheme’s exclusion rules. Two examples it gives are farmers who became landowners after 1 February 2019, and families in which more than one member, such as a husband and wife, is drawing the benefit. Payments in these cases are on hold until physical verification is done. Farmers can check their position on the website, the mobile app or the Kisan eMitra chatbot.

The scheme also excludes several groups. These include institutional landholders, current and former constitutional office holders and legislators, serving and retired government employees other than Group D and multi-tasking staff, pensioners drawing ₹10,000 or more a month, people who paid income tax in the last assessment year, and registered professionals such as doctors, lawyers and chartered accountants.

The Daily Rostrum will update this report when the government officially announces a date for the 24th instalment.
