Delhi High Court asks Kriti Sanon’s counsel for judgments on personality rights, next hearing on 29 October
Hearing the actor's suit on 16 October, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav sought a compilation of case law and legal research on personality rights ahead of a detailed order.

Before passing a detailed order on actor Kriti Sanon’s plea to protect her personality rights, the Delhi High Court on Friday, 16 October, directed her lawyers to submit a compilation of case law and research on the subject, LiveLaw and ANI reported.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav heard the suit, Kriti Sanon v. BBE Marketing Inc & Ors, which has been listed again for 29 October. The reports did not indicate that any interim injunction was granted at this first hearing.
Sanon’s case
Representing Sanon, Advocate Pravin Anand argued that personality rights extend to a person’s name, voice, face and image, as well as to photographs and videos, and that exploiting someone’s identity commercially without permission to make money is a frequent problem, according to the reports. Who the remaining defendants are was not stated in the reports.
Judge wants broader legal material
Justice Kaurav directed the counsel to file case law and research setting out how far personality rights extend. ANI quoted the court as saying, “Please give a compilation. Give me judgments and your understanding regarding personality rights.”
According to ANI, the judge further wanted material on whether such disputes fall within the jurisdiction of the High Court’s Intellectual Property Division, observing that the legal issues called for scrutiny going beyond this particular case. Both reports said Anand undertook to file the compilation that same day and maintained that Sanon’s suit raises no question of jurisdiction.
