Pranavi Urs survives a triple bogey to become the first Indian woman to win Asian Games golf gold
The 23-year-old from Mysuru finished on 15 under, one shot clear of China's Yin Ruoning and Singapore's Shannon Tan. India also took team silver.

Pranavi Urs won the women’s individual golf gold at the Asian Games on Saturday, the first by an Indian woman. The 23-year-old from Mysuru finished on 15 under par, a total of 265, one shot ahead of China’s Yin Ruoning and Singapore’s Shannon Tan.
It is India’s first golf gold of any kind at the Asian Games since Shiv Kapur won the men’s individual title in 2002.
Nerves on the final day
Pranavi started the last round with a three-shot lead and almost lost it early. A triple bogey on the third hole let her rivals back in. She recovered with three birdies and holed the par putts she needed over the closing holes to win by a single shot.
Team silver too
Pranavi also helped India win silver in the women’s team event, with Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar. India finished on 14 under (546) behind China on 22 under (538). Aditi shot a final-round 67 and Diksha a 77.
Why it matters
Indian women’s golf has grown largely around Aditi Ashok, who came close to an Olympic medal in Tokyo. An Asian Games gold for a second player shows the base is getting wider, and it should help Pranavi with sponsorship and tournament invitations as she builds her professional career.
