Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has retired from international cricket, bringing down the curtain on a 14-year career with the national side. The 38-year-old had already stepped away from one-day internationals in June 2025, and has now also ended his T20 international career as well as his state career with Victoria.

Maxwell, who announced the decision on The Final Word, will keep playing franchise Twenty20 cricket, starting with the Melbourne Stars in the coming Big Bash League season. He said he was grateful for the time he got to represent his country and hoped he could inspire young players to approach the game in their own way.

  • Matches: 7 Tests, 149 ODIs and 130 T20Is
