The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the provisional answer key for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier 1 examination 2026, along with candidates’ response sheets, on its official website, ssc.gov.in. The key was published on Wednesday, 4 November.

Exam at a glance

  • Exam: SSC CGL 2026, Tier 1 (computer-based)
  • Exam dates: 30 September to 30 October 2026
  • Vacancies: about 10,731 Group B and Group C posts in central government ministries and departments, according to preparation portals
  • Candidates who appeared: over 28.5 lakh, according to Testbook
  • Last date for objections: 7 November 2026

How to download the answer key

  1. Go to ssc.gov.in and log in with your registration number and password.
  2. Open the answer key section for CGL 2026 Tier 1.
  3. Your response sheet will show the questions, the answer you marked and the provisional correct answer.
  4. Download and save a copy to calculate your likely score.

Raising an objection

Candidates who believe an answer in the provisional key is wrong can challenge it online through the same login before the window closes on 7 November. A fee is charged for each question challenged; reports differ on the amount, so check the exact figure on the SSC portal before paying. Objections found valid will be reflected in the final key, and the result will be prepared on that basis.

Coaching portals expect the Tier 1 result and the final answer key around the first week of December, though the SSC has not announced an official date. Candidates who qualify will go on to the Tier 2 exam.
