Apple launched HomeView, a smart home display, at its “Welcome Home” event on 13 October. In India it is priced at ₹39,900, and pre-orders are now open. Business Standard reported that deliveries begin on 13 November, and Smartprix also gave 13 November as the sale date.

“HomeView is a new product category for Apple,” Business Standard reported. The device combines a touchscreen, a speaker, a voice assistant and smart home controls in one unit.

What HomeView does

HomeView has a 7-inch Liquid Retina display. Smartprix reported that it runs on Apple’s A18 chip, and Business Standard’s report does not name the chip. It comes in two versions: a tabletop model with a speaker base and a wall-mounted model. The main features reported are:

  • Siri with Apple Intelligence handles conversation, music discovery and on-screen awareness. Business Standard noted that some Siri capabilities are still in beta.
  • It recognises up to six people and gives each one a personalised home screen.
  • Lights, thermostats, locks and blinds can be controlled by voice or touch, including Matter-compatible accessories.
  • It shows up to nine home camera feeds at once. With compatible cameras and an eligible iCloud+ plan, it sends alerts about people, pets, packages and vehicles.
  • It supports FaceTime with Center Stage, Apple Music, Podcasts and Apple TV, plus Handoff from an iPhone.

Smartprix reported Apple’s statement that personal data is processed on the device and through Private Cloud Compute.

India price, colours and availability

  • Price: ₹39,900. Smartprix reported this price for both the tabletop and wall-mounted versions, and Business Standard described it as the starting price.
  • Wall-mount accessories: sold separately, from ₹6,900, according to Smartprix.
  • Colours: silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey for the tabletop model; silver and space grey for the wall-mounted model.
  • Pre-orders: open from 13 October on Apple’s website and the Apple Store app.

Other launches at the event

Apple also announced India prices for two other home products, according to Business Standard. The new HomePod mini runs on the S10 chip, has an illuminated top surface called Sound Glow and starts at ₹18,900, with deliveries from 30 October. The new Apple TV 4K runs on the A19 chip and starts at ₹39,900, with deliveries from 13 November. Apple says the A19 offers up to 50 per cent faster CPU and twice the GPU performance of the previous generation.
