Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana got off to a roaring start. According to box-office tracker Sacnilk, the first part of the two-film adaptation collected ₹64.85 crore net in India on its opening day, Thursday, 5 November. Its India gross stood at ₹77.50 crore.

Day 1 at a glance

  • India net: ₹64.85 crore, of which ₹47.50 crore came from the Hindi version
  • India gross: ₹77.50 crore
  • Shows: 25,148 across the country
  • Tickets sold: about 25.25 lakh

Where it ranks

Among Hindi films released just before Diwali, Ramayana now holds the record for the biggest first-day Hindi net, ahead of Tiger 3 (₹43 crore in 2023) and Krrish 3 (₹24 crore in 2013).

On the all-time list of Bollywood openers by Hindi net, it sits third behind Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge (₹99.10 crore) and Drishyam 3: The Conclusion (₹62 crore), and ahead of Border 2 and Mirzapur: The Movie. It beat Adipurush in Hindi opening-day business, though Sacnilk said the Prabhas film still leads on total India net.

Audience response

Early audience reaction has been largely positive, with viewers praising the scale of the visuals and the lead performances. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.

The coming Diwali weekend will be the real test. Opening-day figures are estimates and are often revised once final numbers come in from distributors.
