The Elder Scrolls VI Is Called ‘Sentinel’: Bethesda Reveals Title, Confirms Hammerfell Setting
Bethesda used its 40th anniversary to reveal that The Elder Scrolls VI is subtitled Sentinel, with a short teaser pointing to the desert province of Hammerfell. No release date yet.

After years of near-silence, Bethesda Game Studios has finally named the next game in its fantasy role-playing series. The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel was revealed on 3 November in a teaser that closed a video marking the studio’s 40th anniversary, presented by game director Todd Howard.
What the teaser shows
The clip is brief and offers no gameplay. It does, however, confirm Hammerfell, the long-rumoured desert province of Tamriel, as the setting. The teaser is paired with an in-world message credited to Yazar, a Moth Priest serving High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell. Sentinel is also the name of a major city in that region.
Xbox reacts
Xbox chief executive Asha Sharma congratulated the studio on four decades of building game worlds, calling Sentinel “the next chapter of The Elder Scrolls”.
When can fans play it?
Bethesda has not shared a release window or confirmed platforms. Reports cited by gaming outlets suggest the game is still more than two years away. The previous main entry, Skyrim, came out in 2011, and the sixth game was first teased in 2018, which is why the name “Elder Scrolls VI” climbed Google’s trending searches in India this week.
